Kampfer vs GM : The Uneven Battlefield *finished*
«

Finally, my entry for the comp has beens started.
There have been alot of entries so far that are modded Kampfers so instead of doing another one, I thought I'd give a quick and simple 0080 diorama a go. I probably wont win any prizes, but I'm not doing it to win, I'm doing it to improve my skills and make my entry different from all the rest.
My plan is to have the Kampfer ripping the GMs head off to show off the strength and might of the Kampfer (not that it would need to against a lowly GM!).
Kampfer vs GM : The Uneven Battlefield *finished*
So far the GM has been painted and some small simple mods have been started on the Kampfer.
A more detailed write up can be found
here
where more pictures can be found.
Comments are welcome and, in fact, encouraged, so fire away!

There has already been one entry with a second kit in it (see Gam's 0080 dio) so I thought it would be OK.

I don't think a dio like this would be a problem at all - the main character is the kampfer. Now if it were a dio where there were a bunch of GM's, and the kampfer is a minor figure to the GM's, that would be a problem...

If you add cracks to the visor of the GM head like the Kampfer is crushing it, I will love you.

Quick update :
Started painting the Kampfer finally. I've decided to try Field Blue on top of a Black base coat for the main blue color of the MS. It is a tad dark but I'm hoping it will brighten up a little when I apply the Gloss Coat.
Piccy of the painting so far :

I will update so more when I begin re-assembling both in this topic and on my site which can be found

Finished painting the torso part of the Kampfer today. (sorry about the dark pics but I don't have access to a decent light at the moment)

I have painted the majority of the rest in a black base coat, I just have to go over it with the blue and grays now. Just have to add a wash to the torso now.

Kampfer is about 95% complete. Have finished the majority of both the GM and Kampfer now (both have been decaled) all that is really left to do is pose and detail once in the posed position.
And this little battle scene is now titled "The Uneven Battlefield". It seemed a fitting title as a GM has pretty much next to no chance of defeating a Kampfer!
Any thoughts and suggestions are more than welcome too, so let me know what you think so far.

While I like the overall concept of this diorama, in general it's the little details that make or break something like this. For example, I like the wires that you added to the neck area. The big thing for me though, is the kampfer hand/GM head. It looks like the head is just kinda stuck to the hand somehow. What would have made it that much better, is changing the position of the fingers, and crushing/puncturing the GM head where the fingers are grabbing onto it - because, realistically, it would take alot of force to pull off a GM's head, and it just doesn't feel that the Kampfer has a strong enough hold on the GM head to pull it off.
I think the only other thing that could have been improved upon was the posture of the Kampfer - it looks too upright, and static. I'd expect, given the fact the Kampfer is behind the GM, that the GM was surprised by the Kampfer, and in my mind that means that the Kampfer ambushed the GM, and caught him off guard. Possibly rushed in quickly to disable the unit - but the feet of the Kampfer make it look like it was just standing there as the GM walked by and it decided to rip his head off. This may be a function of the slightly small base, and having to fit both models on it...
Other than that, the paint applications look great, and the overall concept of the diorama is excellent - great work!

I have to agree with everything that fulcy posted. Overall its a nice build with clean paint jobs etc. But it doesn't feel like a battle to me. The GM is too clean and nice, he needs to be beat up, dragged through the mud and have alot more grime on him. But overall, decent work.

your Kampfer is gorgeous. it almost has an Armored Core feel to it, with those colours. it's a pity that face-on most of it is hidden behind the GM.

Quick update :
I entered this kit in the
Aussie Model Expo and Championships
last weekend, and I'm proud to announce that it won a Commended Award! Sure, it's not as good as a trophy, but I'm still stoked about it!

Congrats on the other win as well RC. Nice work and congrats on the prizes.

This kit keeps going from strength to strength! Not only has it quickly become one of the most visited and popular on my site, it is now a 'Build Feature' on the Model Geek webpage!
