Time for another Dinosaur and this time it will be the Velociraptor :

So far, it's been pulled apart, reassembled and is nearly ready for puttying.

Pick this issue of AFM up. I have it and it's FANTASTIC! Lots of tutorials and eye-candy for dinos. Looking at this issue always makes me wanna do one.

You can order it in the back issues section.

This was originally a Jurassic Park kit. I had one way back then (when the movie came out). I had cut it all up and re-built it in a running pose, but knew nothing back then about MagicScupt or any of the techniques you could use to fill in the gaps. Eventually I tossed it. Having seen these kits re-released I've also been tempted to pick one up. Good to see one being built!

Back on this kit after a couple of months!

http://www.ghostofzeon.com/wip/raptor/raptorwip.html#update2

Sanding back the putty and re-shaping the grooves and creases in the skin.

That's a nice and original model but it does look like a sanding nightmare! LOL

Finished sanding those nightmare seams and now beginning to re-add the skin details back to those areas sanded using files, putty, primer and sponges :

I've been painting today. Ended up painting the eyes, then began painting the whole body :

Thoughts about the initial painting are more than welcome.

Honestly, it looks finished! Depends what you're going for, but for something "realistic", well, imo you've got it!

Thanks for the encouraging words Ezechiel. I still plan on adding a wash and slight dry brush to highlight the creases and skin details.

It's interesting to see Dinosaurs here on the forums that are dominated by Ma.K and Gundam. Maybe you should add some awesome armor and a laser beam on it's head. XDD That would be awesome.

Yeah looks very good.  I'd suggest more brown/nasty colors at the jaws though, the sparkling rows of teeth looks like he just came back from the dentist!  LOL

Been working on the base for the beast :

http://www.ghostofzeon.com/wip/raptor/raptorwip.html#update5

Most likely the last update for this kit. Comments at this point are more than welcome so I can try and make this as best as I can.

Great looking base. My only comment is the same as MB's: some nastiness on the teeth Big Grin but I'm sure you took care of that with the last final touches on the skin details.

I did. Added some more dirty colors like Burnt Sienna to make it look a bit yuckier (if that's a word!)
