Guncannon diorama
« on: March 26, 2008, 01:39:47 AM »
Starting my new build, a small diorama featuring a Guncannon and a Zaku :

So far both kits a test fitted and planning has begun for the scene (which will be a semi-serious semi-light hearted one) and possible modifications to the Guncannon to suit the scene.

Made some modifications to the Zaku to allow for easier seam removal and painting :

Also worked out the basic layout of the scene.

Done some battle damage to the Zakus leg :

I plan to have the Zaku done over the weekend - I'll see how I go, nothing ever pans out like I want!

Small update - more damage has been done to the Zaku and I've modified the power cables a little to allow for a more natural pose in the scene :

Another quick update so you can see where I am at with the Zaku :

It's partly weathered now. I just have to finish off the chips and melted parts and then I can move onto the Guncannon.

I'd prefer to see zaku's right arm flat on the ground while holding the rifle.
imho that would look more natural but then that's my idea and this is your diorama so you should go with what looks good on your eyes. ^ ^

is it possible that the trees are a little too large with regards to the Zaku?  Try picturing a 1/144 figure next to the palm tree, personally I see the tree being a little too large.

I think they might be a little large as well but I will hold my final judgment until the Guncannon is added. I can always change the trees later. One thing though, I scaled these trees using a model railroad site which had the actual trunk and frond measurements in 1/150 scale. I tried to find the site again but it seems I forgot to bookmark it.

Update :

Added some explosions to the Zaku, finished the Guncannon, and almost ready to add some water.
