I recently got hold of some of the old ITC Dinosaur skeleton kits for cheap on eBay and I've begun to clean up and rebuild the first of the two, the Tyrannosaurus!

Link to the in-progress page :
http://www.ghostofzeon.com/wip/trexskeleton/trexwip.html

I've begun removing the terrible flash lines where the moulding is off and I've also begun to pin some pieces back in place as some pieces are weak and don't match up with the original holes correctly.

Thoughts and suggestions are more than welcome as this build progresses, so fire away!

Looks good so far - are you keeping the skeleton in the stock pose suggested by the kit?  Reason I ask - was this kit released when they thought T-Rex was a tail dragger, or when they decided that T-Rex held his tail parallel to the ground?  And if it's the tail dragger, are you going to modify the pose?

Thanks for the suggestion fulcy.

Here is a link to a review of the Glencoe version of the kit :

http://www.cybermodeler.com/hobby/figures/glen/kit_glen_tyran.shtml

Turns out Glencoe got hold of the ITC molds and reissued the kit. In the picture, you can see that the skeleton is sort of half tail dragger / half straight (well it's off the ground a little bit). I may change the angle of the legs and tail to make it a bit straighter, but I'll play it by ear until I get to adding the legs and go from there. It shouldn't be too hard to do.

Damn, you always find the most original kits!
This should be an interesting build to follow!
Do you have any experience doing bone colors/effects? It's the kind of things you see a lot in Warhammer and maybe figures but that's about it...

Nope no bone experience! Should be pretty easy to replicate museum quality colors. Some browns, beiges and a few different washes and dry brushes should do the trick I think.

Great pose and really impressed that you took the time to drill out the skull. I second the base too, nice idea.
