So I've been working on the two 1/72 VF-0 Battroid kits from Hasegawa. The normal and the Reactive Armored versions the past 10 days or so. I'm doing these mostly OOB except for a few very minor modifications. The first is to the inside of the forearms which lacks detail and the other to the insides of the feet to add some "rifling" type detail with some strip styrene.

Since it's OOB there's really not much for me to show that I haven't shown 100 times in other build-ups aside from the modified color scheme so I'll likely not do an in-prog page on my site for it.

Is there anything with these kits that anyone is interested in knowing about/want pics of though before I start painting?

I'll be using the below color scheme for the Battorids (and what they'd look like in Valk mode) along with some minor weathering. Not as clean as I do my gunpla, but not as weathered/dirty as my average 1/20 - 1/35 build. I'm just planning filters, discoloration/fading, and a light wash. The metals will be Alclad II's and similar to my Fireball thruster and ADH engine painting.

Just having started Macross, I'm alredy quite fond of it. Could you show a few pics of the box and the unassembled parts next to something that shows it's scale?
Oh, and the color scheme is great. I especially like it on the big bulky battroid.
There was a terrible ghastly silence.
There was a terrible ghastly noise.
There was a terrible ghastly silence.
The Vogon Constructor Fleet coasted away into the inky starry void.

Your best bet for parts pics is 1999:

Can't find the normal Battroid there though for some reason. Size-wise it's slightly taller than the MG S-Gundam. I'll take pics of the full size next to something after painting.

The famous grey-orange combo, can't go wrong with that one!  I'm liking the scheme of course.

Any plan to incorporate the gunpod from the fighter kit into the reactive dude?

Unfortunately not... only because it isn't "expanded" like the Battroid version. I'll send it to ya if you like. :)

man you never see the 1/72 macross kits covered anywhere on the internet. Anything that struck you as special or exceptionally cool about the kits in any way?
By the way, say hi to Chris!

Been busy painting the kitchen and such but am slowly working on this. This weekend I painted most of the metals. The rest will be painted later as it'll be easier to paint them after painting the base colors and masking. Here's a shot of a few parts. Paint applied in the following order

1: Alclad II Jet Exhaust
2: Alclad II Steel
3: Alclad II Aluminum and/or Pale Burnt Metal

Those look great! What are you going to do next? I'm still waiting to see finished pics of the lighthouse.

I'm going to shoot the semi-final lighthouse pics today too. I still haven't wired it up, but I wouldn't be photographing it with the light on most of the time anyway so I can save that for later.

Next is a secret few know about. It will be a scratchbuilt kit likely for production. ;) More later as at the moment all I have are supplies and sketches.

Lighthouse? Yeah, how's that going anyway?
I wonder about the guy that can sit through a David Lynch movie and say, "I saw that coming."

I can't see either of your in-prog pics. :(  Even copying the link gives me a "not found".

It's done anyway, check the Gallery forum.

Done except the wiring. I took images today anyway and will post them soon.
